서울에서 속초로 가는길

 

고속도로보다 국도로 드라이브 겸 여행을 하고 싶어서

 

우리는 국도로 서울에서 속초로 이동했다.

 

고속도로로 가는 길보다 더 다양한 뷰를 보고 싶기도 하고 드라이브 여행이 좋다.

 

남편은 운전하는 것을 좋아한다.

 

나는 운전 하는 걸 좋아하지 않는데

 

나와 반대로 남편은 여전히 운전하는 것을 좋아한다.

 

그래서 우리는 종종 드라이브를 간다.

 

이유 없이 가기도 하고

 

근데 이번에는 시어머니랑 같이 여름이라 해수욕장을 가기로 했다.

 

속초 해수욕장을 가기 위해서.

 

근데 가장 큰 문제점이 잠시 쉬고 싶고

 

화장실을 가고 싶은데 어딜 가야할 지 몰랐다.

 

그래서 모두 참다가

 

발견한 휴게소

 

"팜파스 휴게소"

 

위치는 아래 지도 첨부했다.

 

고속도로는 흔하게 휴게소가 일정 거리 마다 있는데

 

무료 도로/ 국도로 가서 있을까 했는데

 

다행히 있었다.

 

 

이렇게 멀리서 보이는 휴게소 간판.

 

낡아보이고

 

다른 고속도로의 휴게소에 비해 오래되 보이지만 

있을 건 다 있어보이는 휴게소

 

주차장이 작았고

주차장에 있는 차들도 없었다.

 

산 근처에 위치해있고

 

이 산은 지리산이지만 지리산의 어느 부근인지는 모르겠다.

 

 

 

날씨는 우중충하고 좋지 않았지만 휴게소에서 보이는 뷰는 좋았다.

 

초록초록한 산들 

그리고 하늘과 구름

 

주차하면 보이는 카페 Stagecoach

 

멀리서 사진 한장 찍었고

직접 들어가서 어떤 메뉴가 있는지 확인해 보진 않았다.

 

 

그리고 그 옆에 위치한 그네

높이가 성인이 탈 수 있게 높았고

 

여기 휴게소만의 시그니처 같다.

 

푸르른 정원의 그네

 

아이들과 잠시 그네를 타고 쉬어 가기 좋은 장소.

 

왜 이름이 팜파스일까?

 

휴게소 건물 입구로 들어오면 보이는

안내판에 이것에 대해 설명이 되어있다.

 

 

 

나의 친구, 에티오피아(이디오피아)

 

이디오피아 고온 지대에서 자생하는 원두를 채취하여 로스팅한 커피

지구상에서 가장 우수한 커피라고 한다.

 

여기서 나온 수익금으로 참전용사 가족들을 돕고 있다고 한다.

 

멋진 기업이자 휴게소 인것 같다.

 

 

 

입구에서 오른쪽은 식당으로

규모는 작지만 면과 한식이 있다.

 

메뉴는 따로 찍지 않았지만 사진에서 어렴풋이 보인다.

 

 

 

그리고 왼쪽은 매점(편의점)과 화장실이 위치해있다.

 

 

 

 

 

휴게소에 들리는 1순위 이유

화장실

 

작은 휴게소라서 화장실 상태가 어떨까 걱정했지만

 

걱정과 달리 너무 깔끔하고 잘 되어있는 화장실

 

리모델링한지 얼마 안되었지 않을까? 

 

 

나쁘지 않았던 화장실 컨디션

 

사진에서 누군가가 잘못 버려둔 휴지 

하지만 그것은 사용하지 않은 휴지가 떨어져 있음

 

위생적으로 더럽거나 냄새나거나 불쾌하지 않았음.

 

 

장소 리뷰 끝.

 

혹시나 속초로 가는데 우리처럼 드라이브 하고 싶어서 국도로 이동한다면

 

팜파스 휴게소 추천

 

세월의 흔적이 있지만 잠시 쉬어가기 좋습니다.

On the Road from Seoul to Sokcho

We wanted to take a scenic drive and travel along the national road instead of the highway from Seoul to Sokcho.

We were looking forward to seeing a variety of views that the highway wouldn't offer, and we both enjoy a good drive.

My husband loves driving, while I don't share the same enthusiasm. However, this difference means we often go for drives together.

Sometimes we drive just for the sake of it. This time, though, we planned a trip to the beach with my mother-in-law, heading to Sokcho Beach.

Our biggest problem was not knowing where to stop for a break or find a restroom. We all held on until we found a rest area.

We came across "Pampas Rest Area."<<팜파스 휴게소>>

The location is shown on the map.

While highways typically have rest areas at regular intervals, we weren't sure if we'd find any on the national roads. Luckily, there was one.

The rest area sign seen from a distance looked old and worn. Compared to highway rest areas, this one seemed aged but had all the essentials.

The parking lot was small, and there weren't many cars. It was located near the mountains, specifically Jirisan, though we weren't sure exactly where in Jirisan.

The weather was gloomy, but the view from the rest area was pleasant, with green mountains and clouds in the sky.

There was a cafe called Stagecoach visible from the parking lot. I took a photo from a distance but didn't check the menu inside.

Next to it, there was a swing large enough for adults, which seemed to be a unique feature of this rest area. The swing in the lush garden was a nice spot to take a break with children.

Curious about the name "Pampas"? There's an explanation on a sign at the entrance of the rest area building.

My friend, Ethiopia

They roast coffee beans sourced from high-altitude regions of Ethiopia, claiming it's the best coffee on earth. The profits from this help support the families of war veterans, making it an admirable business and rest area.

To the right of the entrance was a small restaurant offering noodles and Korean food. I didn't take a photo of the menu, but you can see it faintly in the picture.

To the left was a convenience store and the restrooms.

The main reason to stop at a rest area: the restrooms.

I was worried about the state of the restrooms since the rest area was small, but they were surprisingly clean and well-maintained. They seemed recently remodeled.

Despite the small size, the restrooms were in good condition. Someone had dropped an unused tissue, but otherwise, the area was clean and odor-free.

That's the end of my review.

If you're heading to Sokcho and want to take the national road like we did, I recommend stopping at Pampas Rest Area. It may show its age, but it's a nice place to take a break.
